Our ongoing collaboration brew project is your chance to create your very own beer with one of Sydney’s foremost craft breweries
Bottled Lightning Co member Jakkii Musgrave, at work with Batch Brewing Co
Not only do our collabo brewers experience the entire brewing process from mash to keg, but they influence the flavour profile and style of the beer, and of course, have a hand in naming the brew.
To pick a would-be-collaboration brewer, we run a quarterly badge draw from the Bottled Lightning Co. membership base, and pair them up with one of our esteemed partner breweries. The lucky winner is then invited to a brew day with the chosen brewery, and there, the fun begins.
Once the beer reaches the maturation tanks, Bottled Lightning Co. then work with the brewery to distribute the finished product to an influential network of Sydney venues, and will typically co-ordinate a launch event to promote the beer. Our aim with this project is to further the bond between Sydney and the craft beer community, and of course to produce beers with a focus on seasonality, quality and a story.

Storming Summer Ale
Storming Summer Ale was our very first collaboration brew. In preparation for Australia Day 2015, we shipped local budgie smuggler Andrew O’Keefe down to Rocks Brewing to create an ale fit for the Sydney summer. The result showcased only the best Aussie ingredients; Pilsner, Munich and Wheat malts provided a golden base, while Australian hops helped to impart an aroma of fruit salad (just like mum used to make!). Our Summer Ale delivered a moderate level of bitterness (25 IBUs), the perfect drop to break the summer heat, without compromising on flavour.
