Holgate Brewhouse Norton Lager
Helles Lager, 4.3%
Leading the charge in the emergence of the Australian craft lager. Like many of his beers the Norton Lager was inspired by a trip Paul made to Germany admiring the longstanding craft of producing the helles lager. Pale golden in colour, the beer is light on bitterness. The malts also show a delicate touch with honey and light caramel. The spin on the style comes with the use of Aussie Vic’s Secret and Ella hops.
Holgate Brewhouse ESB
In honour of Paul Holgate’s English heritage this ESB follows the classic English style. One of the first beers Holgate produced back in 1999. This malt driven beer uses crystal and roast malts to add massive amounts of toffee and caramel. East Kent Golding and Fuggles hops are combined with Australian Galaxy for a slight new world twist. Best served through a hand-pump to accentuate the rich malt flavours.
Holgate Brewhouse Road Trip
American IPA, 5.8%
After a family trip though the West Coast of America. Paul Holgate was inspired to create this beer. His version of an American IPA uses all US hops with Chinook, Centennial and Citra. The hop combination give this beer a big piney, citrus and grapefruit aroma. The big hop presence is balanced by a big biscuity malt backbone and a string backend bitterness.
Holgate Brewhouse Temptress
Chocolate Porter, 6%
What starts as a traditional English robust porter is quickly turned on its head with a big addition of Dutch cocoa and whole vanilla beans. The end result is thick and viscous, the palate shows an abundance of chocolate, caramel and caramel. This beer is smooth and sweet without being overly so, the vanilla is evident on the end of the palate. The ultimate beer to match with your dessert or it can be the dessert itself.
